OK, despite the fact that the material in this little essay undegoes continual tonal center and thematic variation throughout, a regrettable paucity of rhythmic contrast in places may be noticeable. I spent so much time struggling to improve the voice leading and phrasing that the necessity for secondary invention apparently escaped me. Possibly the apparent wholly voluntary meltdown in global market relations during composition distracted and soured my concentration. Apologies to the world for my own personal shortcomings in craftsmanship and - more importantly - for the clearly reckless, malevolent and ignorant leadership currently steering the ship of state in the country of my birth.
For the uninitiated, the Prashna Upanishad is one of the noblest and most ancient Hindu scriptures:
"It is he who beholds, touches, hears, smells, tastes, perceives, thinks, reasons, conceives, acts, whose essence is knowledge, the Self. His foundation and dwelling is the supreme, indestructible Self."
