Long-term stalkers of my output will recognize the patterns here. This is a work in one movement, with tonal centers following the row itself (Ab-A-C-Eb-E-D-Bb-Gb-G-F-Db-B) in roughly one minute segments. Every note in the first half of the piece is mirrored in retrograde in the second half - with new doublings, changes in tempo and dynamics, and additional completely new voices added to the mix for confusion's sake.
I could rant at length about losing an entire month of productivity having to replace a CPU, upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10; subsequently having to also upgrade a considerable number of frequently-used apps (or completely replace them with totally different programs); and therefore having to either edit, or totally recompose, virtually all the lovely little scripts I use to rationalize and streamline my workspaces; but what would be the point in all that? What's done is done. Suffice it to note that from this point forward, all PDFs, computer realizations and MP3s will be produced entirely by Sibelius 8, rather than by collaborations among my former darling Sibelius 6, PDF Creator, and iTunes. Life goes on.
